Monolith discovered on Isle of Wight similar to ones found in US and Romania
The mysterious mirrored object was spotted by a dog walker on the island's Compton Beach.
A monolith has been spotted on the Isle of Wight - days after similar structures were discovered in the US and Romania.
Tom Dunford, 29, was out walking the dog with his fiancee and sister at 7.30am on Sunday when he saw the mysterious mirrored object ahead of them on the island's Compton Beach.
He told Sky News: "We went down the steps and to the right about 100 yards in front us we saw this big reflection of the sun.
"I knew about all the monolith stories recently, so I recognised it straight away."
Within the last week, so-called monoliths have appeared in the Utah desert, on a hill in Romania and atop a Californian mountain.
They bear a resemblance to the one that features in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Israel to impose night curfew as new infections rise
The nightly lockdown will begin tomorrow evening December 9 through to January 2, as 1,837 people tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
Israel's coronavirus cabinet voted to impose a night curfew from Wednesday December 9 until January 2 as the number of new Covid-19 cases continues to rise. The cabinet will meet today to decide the exact hours - from 7pm to 5pm has been suggested - and what distances people will be allowed to go from their homes.
Many Ministry of Health officials including National Coronavirus Project Coordinator Prof. Nachman Ash expressed skepticism on whether these measures would be enough to stem the rise in infections. The idea of the curfew is to prevent social gatherings in the holiday season with Hanukkah starting Thursday evening and through to Christmas and New Year's Eve later this month.
