(25/28) Deceased hostage returned by Hamas identified as Meny Godard, from Kibbutz Be’eri

Military representatives have notified the family of Meny Godard that his body was returned to Israel by Hamas tonight, after forensic experts completed their identification.

Godard, 73, was murdered by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023, alongside his wife Ayelet, 63, and his body was abducted to Gaza by the Hamas-allied terror group.

The couple is survived by their children, Mor, Gal, Bar, and Goni, a number of grandchildren, and several siblings.

In March, troops recovered findings belonging to Godard at an Islamic Jihad post in southern Gaza’s Rafah. The findings found at the post were taken to Israel and identified as belonging to Godard, but his body remained held in Gaza.

Hamas, in a joint statement with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said that the body had been located in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza earlier today.

The bodies of three slain hostages now remain held in the Strip — two Israelis and one Thai national: Master Sgt. Ran GviliDror Or and Sudthisak Rinthalak.

Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS's tail is still growing, new image shows

Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS exhibits a bright, extended ion tail while releasing gas and dust as it travels through the inner solar system.

A stunning new image of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS (C/2025 N1 ATLAS) reveals the cosmic visitor's ion tail has grown dramatically longer and more structured — a sign of intensifying activity as it continues its journey through the inner solar system.
The image, captured by the Virtual Telescope Project at 11:31 p.m. EDT on Nov. 10 (0431 GMT on Nov. 11), is composed of 18 separate 120-second exposures, remotely taken by robotic telescopes located in Manciano, Italy. Despite the comet being just 14 degrees above the eastern horizon and a bright 61% moon shining about 70 degrees away, a sharply defined, luminous ion tail is seen.
"Exploiting the unusual good weather of this season, we imaged the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS (C/2025 N1 ATLAS) again, recording a much more developed ion tail," Gianluca Masi, Virtual Telescope Project founder and astronomer, said in a post sharing the new image. "Looking at the picture, we see how the ion tail of 3I/ATLAS is clearly showing better and better."

4 hostages remain in Gaza after Hamas returns body of IDF soldier killed in 2014

Israel received the remains of two hostages in two days, the most recent of which came on Sunday, as the initial terms of the first phase of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire near an end. Hadar Goldin’s body was taken hostage during the 2014 six-week war between Israel and Hamas, making him the only remaining hostage to have been held by the militant group since before the start of the current war.

Sharaa: Trump supports Damascus’s position on Israeli withdrawal from Syria, will push for it

There is a “good distance to go” before his country can reach an agreement with Israel, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa tells The Washington Post after becoming the first Syrian leader to meet the US president in Washington.

“To reach a final agreement, Israel should withdraw to their pre-Dec. 8 borders,” he says, referring to the date of the fall of the Bashar Assad regime and the simultaneous Israeli advance into the buffer zone between the two countries, and beyond, confirming that the two sides are involved in “direct negotiations.”

Sharaa argues that Israel’s invasion of Syria comes from “expansionist ambitions” and not security concerns.

Four dead and a million evacuated as Super Typhoon Fung-wong hits Philippines

Filipinos are still dealing with the aftermath of Typhoon Kalmaegi, which killed more than 200 people earlier this week.

More than one million people were evacuated and at least four killed as a super typhoon made landfall in the Philippines on Sunday.

Fung-wong battered eastern and central parts of the country, causing power outages, and forcing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr to declare a state of emergency.

One person drowned in Catanduanes and firefighters recovered the body of a woman trapped under debris of a collapsed home in Catbalogan City, officials said.

Two children also died after a mudslide buried a house in the Kayapa, in Nueva Vizcaya province, civil defence official Alvin Ayson told Reuters.
