Drought status has been declared across a wide area of North Wales. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said widespread wildfires, record-low river flows and successive heatwaves have triggered the declaration.
The areas affected include North Gwynedd, Ynys Môn, South Gwynedd, Dee (Wales), Clwyd and Upper Severn.
NRW is encouraging people to use water wisely but water company Dwr Cymru said there are no current Temporary Use Bans (hosepipe bans) in the areas entering drought conditions. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
The NRW decision follows continued hot, dry weather over recent weeks. July is on course to become the driest on record in Wales for almost 190 years if significant rainfall does not arrive before the end of the month.
