Video of Jews performing Priestly Blessing on Temple Mount sparks outrage (WATCH ISRAEL, REV 12 WOMEN)

While Jewish prayer has been conducted quietly on the Temple Mount since 2019, the video showed relatively public prayer.

A video of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount performing the Priestly Blessing ("Birkat Kohanim") was published on social media on Tuesday, sparking outrage from Palestinian movements.

The video, dated Sunday, was posted by the Palestinian al-Qastal news site. The source of the footage is unclear, as is the reason for waiting two days to publish it.

In the video, five Jewish visitors, presumably Kohanim, can be seen reciting the Priestly Blessing on the Temple Mount across from the Dome of the Rock.

Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount are informed upon entry that prayer and religious items such as prayer books or prayer shawls are forbidden in the complex, although, since late 2019, Jewish visitors have been able to pray quietly, including the Priestly Blessing, in certain parts of the site, relatively undisturbed.

Israel protests as Sweden allows Bible burning outside embassy on Saturday

Chief rabbi calls on Stockholm to stop the burning: ‘any desecration of sacred Jewish items is not freedom, but antisemitism’; Ambassador: ‘an act of hate and disrespect’

Israeli officials protested to Sweden on Friday after local police gave the go-ahead to a request to allow the burning of a Bible outside of the Israeli embassy in Stockholm on Saturday, saying that the decision was tantamount to a “hate crime.”

Local police two weeks ago said they had received an application from an individual in his 30s to burn a Jewish and a Christian Bible outside Israel’s Embassy in Stockholm on July 15 as “a symbolic gathering for the sake of freedom of speech.” It comes just weeks after Quran burnings took place in the city.

It was not immediately clear if the person planned to burn a copy of the Bible or a Torah scroll.
