Iran threatens 'unforgettable lessons', as two US troops killed

 

Iran's supreme leader vowed to teach the United States "unforgettable lessons", as Washington reported its first military deaths since renewing its hostilities with the Islamic republic.

A month after the foes signed a now-abandoned preliminary deal aimed at ending their war, Tehran struck infrastructure around the Gulf in retaliation for a week of intensifying US attacks, which Iran said had hit an airport, a railway station and bridges.

Iran hit an oil facility in Kuwait as well as a power and water plant, authorities in the Gulf state said, while in Bahrain the army said air defences repelled a wave of Iranian attacks.

Tehran also launched fresh strikes in Jordan, where the US military's Central Command said two service members were killed as they "defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks".

The measure comes in the wake of the recent hot, dry spell, which has placed significant strain on treated water storage across mid and south Ceredigion, as well as parts of north Pembrokeshire and north Carmarthenshire.

The affected region falls within a single water supply zone served by two Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) water treatment works.

Iran hits two UAE tankers in Strait of Hormuz as US carries out third night of strikes

 

• Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, as the US carries out a third night of strikes in a row on Iran

• The UAE called the attack "brazen", adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured - BBC Verify tracks the tankers' recent movements

• The IRGC also confirmed it had targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain overnight

• Meanwhile the US military says it has completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading "Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping"

• Oil prices rose this morning, with Brent crude up by 1.9% at $84.87 (£63.48) a barrel, while US-traded oil rose by 2% at $79.75
