WHOLE OF UNITED KINGDOM ON SNOW WARNING AS STORM EMMA HITS.

THE Met Office has released a shocking map showing weather warnings for the entire country, including the potential for danger to life in Scotland and south west England, as the snow causes havoc and Storm Emma blasts in.

Red weather warnings - the highest level of alert which - are now in place for the first time ever in parts of Scotland and the south west of England, as well as Wales.

Amber warnings for snow are also in place for much of Scotland and the south west.

And there are yellow warnings for the rest of the country as it struggles to cope with the extreme weather.

For the south west, a red weather warning is in place from 3pm today until 2am tomorrow, with forecasters warning of heavy snow and blizzard conditions.

The Met Office warned: "Some places could also see significant ice build up due to freezing rain from later on Thursday evening, most likely in the south of the area.

“Long delays and cancellations of public transport seem highly likely. Some roads are likely to become blocked by deep snow, stranding vehicles and passengers.

“Long interruptions to power supplies and other utilities are very likely to occur, along with damage to trees and other structures due to heavy snow or ice.”

Scotland’s red warning came into force yesterday afternoon and lasts until 10am.
