Israel awaited the return of the last hostage remains held by Palestinian militants in Gaza, as the military said on Thursday that those of a Thai national had been identified after they were handed over.
Under the first phase of the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, militants were due to return all 48 hostages they held captive, 20 of whom were still alive.
All but the remains of Israeli Ran Gvili have since been handed over, though Israel has accused the Palestinian militants of dragging their feet on returning bodies.
Hamas has said the process of retrieving the remains has been slow because they have been buried under the vast piles of rubble left by two years of devastating war.
Israel sent a delegation on Thursday to Cairo to discuss efforts for the return of the last hostage's remains in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement.

The Red Cross transferred the body of a presumed hostage from Hamas to Israeli security forces in Gaza on Wednesday evening, as the families of the final two deceased hostages held in the Strip await the return of their loved ones for burial after over two years in captivity.
After the casket was handed over, it was brought into Israeli territory and taken to the Abu Kabir forensic institute in Tel Aviv for identification.
Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups did not provide the identity of the hostage they handed over, which they said was found in a joint search effort conducted in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya earlier Wednesday.

At least 13 people have been killed in an Israeli raid on a village in southern Syria overnight, state media reported, in one of the deadliest incidents of its kind for months. It said children were among the dead.
Sana news agency said residents of Beit Jinn "confronted" Israeli troops, leading to a firefight. Air strikes were also carried out. Syria's foreign ministry condemned what it called a "war crime" by Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said troops went into the village, on the edge of the occupied Golan Heights, to detain militants who it said "advanced terror attacks against Israeli civilians".
Six Israeli soldiers were injured in the clashes, three seriously, it said.
The IDF said it targeted the Jamaa Islamiya militant group in Friday's operation. It said that when the raid began, "several armed terrorists opened fire" on its soldiers, who fired back.
Sana said the village was also shelled. Footage released by the IDF shows two air strikes - one apparently on a group of people, and the other on a building. In bodycam footage also released by the IDF, soldiers can be seen firing on a street in the dark with the sound of automatic gunfire in the distance.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitoring group, said a building collapsed during the operation.
The IDF later said "all of the suspects were apprehended, and a number of terrorists were eliminated".
Sana said three people were arrested by the troops before they withdrew.

Marching to the beat of pounding sound systems, thousands of climate protesters have been bringing their message to the gates of the COP30 climate talks in Brazil.
Chanting and singing "free the Amazon", demonstrators in host city Belém have been carrying three giant coffins reading Oil, Coal and Gas flanked by two grim reapers.
Indigenous groups displayed signs reading "the answer is us" as an inflatable elephant and anaconda weaved through the crowd under the hot sun.
It is the first time since 2021 that protesters have been allowed to demonstrate outside the UN climate talks. The last three took place in countries that do not permit public protest.

Military representatives have notified the family of Meny Godard that his body was returned to Israel by Hamas tonight, after forensic experts completed their identification.
Godard, 73, was murdered by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023, alongside his wife Ayelet, 63, and his body was abducted to Gaza by the Hamas-allied terror group.
The couple is survived by their children, Mor, Gal, Bar, and Goni, a number of grandchildren, and several siblings.
In March, troops recovered findings belonging to Godard at an Islamic Jihad post in southern Gaza’s Rafah. The findings found at the post were taken to Israel and identified as belonging to Godard, but his body remained held in Gaza.
Hamas, in a joint statement with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said that the body had been located in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza earlier today.
